The story is about Mackenzie, the tragedy she has experienced, and her discoveries about an unknown past, just as she was determined to put the tragedy behind her.
Mackenzie is thrown into an unexpected world inhabited by her parents, which she knows nothing about until it is unexpectedly revealed to her. The more Mackenzie finds out, the more questions she has, which leads her on a journey to find answers.
As Mackenzie grapples with establishing a new identity unburdened by a past tragedy, she discovers the true basis of her identity and that one can never really leave one's past behind.
There are friendships, betrayals, discoveries, and enough twists and turns to keep the reader wondering what's next.
The next book in the series, Spells of Revenge and Requiem, has just been released, and I look forward to seeing where this story goes.
